About the Conference

ELC 2012 will offer engineering professionals the opportunity to hear from highly experienced leaders in the profession, as well as develop techniques for improving business and communication skills. This year's speaker program will address many different aspects of engineering leadership, all linked to the four core issues of Pathways to Leadership, Transitions in Leadership, Leadership in Industry and Engineering a Better Society.

The conference also includes a range of workshops, both before and during the main technical program, covering topics such as presentation skills, business acumen, effective management styles and leadership techniques. Workshops on "Transitioning from Manager to Leader", "Negotiation Skills" and "Influencing Skills" are proving the most popular, and are almost at capacity.

Keynote speakers, including the Honourable Tim Fischer AC, a former deputy Prime Minister of Australia, Ian Tyler, Chief Executive of global infrastructure services company Balfour Beatty PLC, and Jillian Kilby, the 2010 Young Professional Engineer of the Year, promise to inspire, sharing experiences and insights on how to become a better leader.

Marita Cheng, an inspiring engineer and the 2012 Young Australian of the Year, will also be speaking about her dedication to encouraging young women to consider a career in engineering.

Key social events, which can be attended as part of, or separate to the conference, include a Welcome Reception, a Business Breakfast with Jay Weatherill, Premier of South Australia, as the keynote speaker, a Gala Dinner and a Young Engineers Networking Event.

Event App Launched

The ELC 2012 Organising Committee is proud to announce a special benefit for conference delegates to maximise their access to convenient and changing information about the conference. Each delegate will have access to a sophisticated smartphone application that provides up to date information on presentations, an ability to create a unique conference calendar to suit the individual delegate, links to friends at the conference, and the ability to vote on conference issues and to rate sessions. The Organising Committee believe this capability is at the cutting edge of conference support to delegates, and looks forward to feedback on the utility of the app for delegate needs.

Delegates will be emailed a username and password for the app within 5 working days of finalising their conference registration (including payment).

Conference Registration

Details of other registration fees, including day registration options and the cost of associated events, are provided on the conference website registration page.
Delegates wishing to attend the free conference workshops are reminded to book early, as numbers are limited at these sessions. Pre-conference tours and pre-conference workshops also represent excellent value, with numbers again limited and available on a "first come first served" basis.
